In the second decade of the 21st Century, the United States suffers the loss of two Presidents Brett Campbell, assassinated in an Islamic State suicide bombing, and Charles McConnell, who drastically expanded the national security state to fight terror. Elizabeth discovers that this cabal—The Phalanx—is growing on American military bases, funded by offshore dark money. Her lover, Paul Coulter, a White House reporter, learns that Jackson leads the Phalanx and is now training its cadres on secret Nevada bases with the presidential election only weeks away. As they race to secure the evidence that can break the conspiracy, the country is shattered by a new series of attacks that may destroy its freedoms and send it careening to war.

This story is amazing and a quick read. There are some typos, but nothing that distracting. A real page turner and well researched. Living in New Mexico, I have traveled to,many of locations and roads he mentions. Worth picking up.Product details

A timely read. This is a well-crafted political thriller and cautionary tale that grabs hold from page one as the author takes us into the black heart of a military-industrial complex gone really awry. The characters are well-developed and worth caring about as they try to save the day - and our way of life. Fiction? We can only hope events like those in this book will not come to fruition thanks some whacked-out elected officials, but look out. If you like your liberty be careful who you vote for.
Read it in two days. Great plot. A real page-turner.
Democracy needs attention and involvement or we will be sorry. Freedom is delicate but invaluable and requires effort!.
Good story! Scary....
Engrossing and captivating, this book is a real page turner. Characters are believable and vulnerable and the plot is frighteningly realistic. As always with Fred Huebner's work, I was quite taken with his woman's voice.

Excellent and all-too-real. Filled with relatable characters making understandable choices--even if you don't agree with them; this self-published novel is really well-paced and should be read by all who concern themselves with, or find themselves concerned by, American politics today.
